In the U.S., Bombus rufocinctus is a boreal (northern) and Rocky Mountain species. It is not known to acheive very high abundances in the eastern U.S., although identification could be impeded by its high color polymorphism and mimicry of other species. In Kansas B. rufocinctus is western, and in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio it only occurs in the far north. |
