I am in my last year in the Master's program of the Department of Entomology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in the lab of Dr. Lawrence Hanks. In a dubiously intelligent move, I broke from the Hanks Lab cerambycid paradigm to instead study the ecology of striped cucumber beetles. I will probably return to the fold for my Ph.D. work. See the research section for a little more about what I do.
I'm also active in graphics and web design. I created and currently maintain the department's website, as well as the site of the Entomology Graduate Students Association. I minored in computer science at Duke, but I found that I get tired of writing code very quickly. I do try to keep my skills up to date and I still write the occasional program or two. If you find yourself in need of perl scripts or Java/C# executables then let me know and I'll see what I can do.
When I manage to have a life outside academics, I enjoy camping, hiking, photography, video games, and baking giant insect-shaped cookies. I also enjoy spending time with my loving wife, who is unbelievably tolerant of the frozen insects that fill our freezer.
