Bombus terricola is a boreal North American bumble bee restricted in the Midwest to the northern states. In Illinois, the species is limited to the far north. It is possible the species occurs in northern counties of Iowa and Indiana as well. This species is suspected to be in decline, potentially as a result of a pathogen. Records of this species in southern areas may be limited by its close resemblance to the more common B. pensylvanicus and B. auricomus. |
